A mid-maturing variety. The plant is of short to medium height, thus is highly lodging-resistant. The variety has a high drought hardiness. The kernel is large with a protein content up to 11.4%

Production according to the malting technology requires limiting the amount of nitrogenous fertiliser applied to 40 kg/ha active substance upon sowing and the application of phosphate-potassium fertilisers — to 40-60 kg/ha active substance. To reap a bumper harvest of forage barley with a high protein content, the amount of nitrogenous fertiliser needs to be increased to 100–120 kg/ha active substance.

The variety is susceptible to covered and loose smuts, root rots and helminthosporium blight; highly resistant to brown rust, powdery mildew, fusarium head blight. The variety is moderately resistant to damage caused by frit fly.

Seed treatment with a nicotinoid group insecticide of is recommended. Pursuant to the malting barley production technology, two treatments with a fungicide and insecticide mixture and the application of the growth regulator Modus are recommended. When growing forage barley, one fungicide treatment is sufficient.
