Oryol State Agricultural University n. a. N.
A high-yielding short-stalked variety
Maximum yield in state testing:
3.75 tonnes/hectare (Omsk oblast, 2017)
State Register
Central, West and East Siberian regions
Development features
A mid‑maturing variety with lodging, shedding and drought resistance from above average to high, on par with check varieties. The variety forms a biomass on average 14.7% less than initial populations but, due to an increased harvest index, forms a significantly higher yield as compared to them and the check variety. Technological and cooking properties are high. Valuable in terms of quality.
Planting time
Late, after 25 May, June also possible
Vegetation period
74–105 days
Seeding rate (viable seed/m2 )
80–100 kg/ha
TKW
25–38 g
Agrophone
The nitrogenous fertiliser rates for the variety should not exceed 30‑45 kg/ha active substance (on light soils — 60 kg/ ha active substance). The recommended nitrogenous fertiliser is ammonium sulphate, since alongside nitrogen it also contains sulfur necessary for buckwheat. The P2O5 and K20 application rates should amount to 25‑60 and 30‑90 kg/ ha active substance, respectively.
Disease resistance
Over the years of field trials, the variety was virtually unaffected by ascochyta blight or downy mildew, similarly to the check varieties.
Crop protection
Buckwheat is sensitive to many herbicides, particularly to those based on sulfonylurea used on previous crop — up to complete loss of crop. Therefore such fields should not be used for buckwheat cultivation.
Intended use
Groats, valuable in terms of quality
